I can't lift or pull more than 20lbs.
I'm on a restricted workout routine; walking and "light" stretching.
Nothing strenuous.

It was suggested that I take up knitting or crocheting.

I tried once .....
I think I might want to learn a second language, or take some other type of course.
Pottery?
Basket weaving?

I just know I have to find something.
I can't keep doing what i've been doing.
Which has been a whole lot of nothing.

I'll figure it out.

He released me back to work on Jan 30th.

With restrictions.

I can't lift OR pull anything over 20lbs.

Due to the nature of my job, I can't go back to work.

HAPPY FRIDAY!

I saw a promo for the upcoming Van Halen Tour, and *BAM*,
I was instantly back in the early 80's rockin' out with my (proverbial) cock out!
Diamond Dave and the boys were the SHIZZ!

But ..... somewhere in the middle of a VERY successful tour in 1985 for their "1984" Album, David Lee Roth was booted from the band (or left .... depends on who you ask).
The band replaced Diamond Dave with Sammy Hagar.
He was no DLR, but he & the Van Halen Boys managed to put out a few substantial and worthwhile songs.
This one (in my opinion) is still VERY relevant ..... 20 years later!

On an unseasonably warm November day, I returned home from work and found a package in my mailbox.
I wasn't sure what it was ..... but when I saw who sent me the package, I was VERY excited!

I sat down in my favorite chair with a pair of scissors in my hand and opened up my parcel.
I opened up the box, sifted through the layers of paper, and this is what I found:

I had my surgery on the 14th and now i'm home.
My recovery will be longer than originally anticipated as my doctor was unable to
perform it laparoscopically. He had to cut me open.
I'll spare you the gory details.

I have good drugs .... and lot's of them!

I'm more reflective and thankful this year.

True, i'm not where I want to be, and i'm missing a very big part of my family,
But I know they're safe.

I'm happy and satisfied being where I am with my Boys, my SIL and niece and her Mother.
They too are my family, and I love them dearly.
I spent time last night with a very dear friend for coffee .... and we talked about the good in our lives.
We all have crap, but for today, I will embrace the GOOD, the happy.

them a lil' jingle and find out when my surgery might be scheduled.

After being place on hold for a ~~gajillion~~ few minutes, the Office ~~Bitch~~ Manager

comes on the line and proceeds to tell me that I have to sign a consent form first.

OK says I.
I will come today and then we can get it scheduled right away, right?

Um .... not quite.

According to my (lame-ass) insurance company, the consent form has to be

ON FILE for at least ONE MONTH prior to surgery.

EX-SQUEEZE ME???????

Do the math .....

(I'll wait .... I want a coffee anyway)

Everyone with me now? Good.

So ...... there goes Black Friday shopping!

I'll be on strict bed rest for the first 2 weeks AFTER the surgery and recovery for another 6!

I stepped outside into a cool, blustery and rainy night.
I climbed into my vehicle, turned the ignition and backed out of the drive.
I started down a road that I had traveled on many times.
I kept on the familiar route, knowing precisely the destination of my nights journey.

I swung my car into the drive, parked and sat.
Just for a moment, but long enough to collect my thoughts.
I opened the door, exited and started walking down the path to the front door.
With each step I took, another memory from the past came flooding into my head.
I felt my steps slow; my feet suddenly feeling like weights.

As I climbed the steps, I paused for a moment ....
My chest feeling tight, and in desperate need of air.
I opened the door and stepped inside.

Suddenly, I was transported back in time ......
To the 10 year old girl who first stepped in this place.
Then to the teenager who spent far too much time in this place.
Then to the eager bride-to-be who had to extend her vacation to be in this place
Finally, to the new mother who was stunned to find herself there yet again.
All the memories layering themselves one on the other.

I took a few tentative steps forward and turned my head to the left.
That is where I saw him.
Dressed in his finest.
Surrounded by family and friends.
He looked so calm ...
So peaceful.

I took a deep breath ....
Stepped forward .....
said my final goodbye and paid my respects.

I turned quickly and practically ran out of that place.
I had already "given" enough of my precious time to being in it ....

August was when I found out about tri-fecta of prolapses.

I spent all of September and the early part of October being

poked, prodded, and 'other' things that I don't even care to remember.

When I net with my Doctor over a week ago, he confirmed what I already knew.

I need a hysterectomy and he needs to re-attach my other bits.

What he HASN'T told me was when the surgery was going to be.

I realize it's only been a little over a week, but I'm not so good with the waiting.

I really just want it over with and done.

Preferably before the holiday season as I will be out of commission for 8 weeks.

Soooo .....

I am now a woman of a 'certain age'.

My body is going through all kinds of ~~really fucked up~~ normal"changes".

Some good.

Some not so good.

One of my 'not so good' has to do with birthing my 2 gorgeous, talented, ~~ungrateful~~ boys.

They ruined my girlish figure!

Literally.

They, along with lifting things I shouldn't have been, have caused my internal "lady parts" to start *falling out!

(I swear, even as I type that, all I hear is the old lady calling out from the floor, "Help! I've fallen and I can't get up!")

I have the trifecta of prolapses.

What does that mean?

My uterus, bladder and rectum have all become UNattached and are pushing into the vaginal cavity.

They are falling out.

Let me say that again ..... they are
FALLING
THE
FUCK
OUT!

From inside.

I'm not sure exactly how or when it happened.

But I do know that i've had some "issues" since about January-February.

I didn't think much of it at the time; it was all very minor stuff.

But when I went to my regular "lady parts" checkup, my gyno was more than a bit concerned.

YAY ME!

Since then, I have had a barrage of tests ranging from a transvaginal ultrasound,

(Translation: They ~~shove~~ insert a rod into your pussy to have a look around. I call it the Dildogram.

The wand/rod looks like a dildo. The hard plastic kind) blood work, more "lady part" exams than I care for, and today's fun ... a Urodynamic test!

The Urodynamic test consists of a catheter ~~shoved~~ inserted into your bladder and another in the rectum.

They fill your bladder with water slowly and ask how your bladder feels at different intervals.

They also have you cough and strain.

Finally, when you tell them that you REALLY have to pee, they stop and remove the catheter.

Everything is recorded as you're connected to a computer as well.

I still have Cystoscopy left to have done.

That'll be another EXCITING test!

I get a CAMERA ~~shoved~~ inserted into my "lady parts"!

I better not see THOSE pics on Facebook!

All of these ~~annoying as fuck~~ tests are leading up to a meeting where I find out what the course of action and/or treatment plan will be.

I'm praying that he doesn't mention surgery involving using the vaginal mesh that is so popular in

the treatment of "lady parts" falling out.

There are lawsuits out the ying AND the yang involving this shit.

What am I hoping for?

A few things actually.

See, on top of these issues, I also have fibroids all over my insides.

They have caused me much grief over the years.

In MY world, I would get a hysterectomy and then have all my parts REattached!

But we shall see .....

October 10th.

Till then, i'm just gonna be slightly more than my crazy/sexy/bitchy/insane self.

Oh yeah, I'm on a "NO SEX" till further notice.

Again, YAY ME! Poor Jack ....

I hope I have the energy for it all!

Little Man has a new counselor, and it seems to be going well.

He's responding well to the new treatment plan we have in place and

he just started a new medication, so we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Boy Genius had his first job interview, but sadly, he didn't get the job.

It's not easy for a teen to get a job when they have to compete with folks my age.

It's entry level, but when there's no other jobs?

Yeah, you take what you can get.

He's still trying .....

and THAT is what matters!

Me? Well, another year has come and gone.

I must say that I am not finding the whole menopausal 40's woman thing to be fun.

In fact, it sucks.

I've had a couple things come up in my "routine" exams, so now

I go from test to test to test ....

Someday there will be a light at the end of the tunnel.

I just wish it were now.

I know that's not how it works .... just frustrated.

I'm kinda looking forward to getting back into a routine ....

I feel kinda 'lost' without one.

It's another sad day for we Americans.
In my opinion.
I have stated here on MANY occasions my anger and loathing of The Patriot Act.
However, Congress doesn't seem to agree.
They have voted to renew The Patriot Act provisions for another 4 years.

I'm not naive, I know the world in which we live.
But really? It's been this way for as long as I can remember (I am currently 42).
Terrorism has always been around in my lifetime.
The major difference?
It's happening on our soil now.
So how do we react?
Strip away the freedoms that far too many men, women and children gave up their lives for.

This weekend we honor those very people that lost their lives while in the service of defending OUR country.

I hope they understand ......

Then I read this today:

The particular article I was reading further states, "The name of the former member of Mr Schwarzenegger's household staff with whom he fathered the child has not been made public. I'm not sure if y'all are aware, but April is Autism Awareness month.

At least 50 kids today will be diagnosed as being on the Autism Spectrum.

Like mine was not too long ago.

My sweet, beautiful boy was diagnosed with PDD-NOS, Pervasive developmental disorder-Non Specific.

What does it mean?

Well, he displays some tendencies of Asperger Syndrome, and some tendencies of Autism.

Developmentally? He IS behind.

Intellectually? He's a genius.

Diagnostically? he's on the Autism spectrum.
It's a very broad spectrum with a massive amount of grey area.

We knew he had some development issues 2 years ago and he started getting help.
He had been progressing amazingly well.

But in the last couple of months, his behaviors have changed enormously.

Many meetings ....
Tons of phone calls ....

I'm still in the process of working things out and getting him all the help he needs.

But ......

It's a battle.

It's a process.

And with all the budget cuts?
Yeah ..... it's even harder.

Personally, i'm still trying to wrap my head around it all.

I work with severely autistic kids, so I know how very challenging it can and will be.

But this is MY child.
My sweet surprise that just turned 6.
My blond haired, blue-eyed, gap-toothed, butt chin baby boy.

I watch him struggle with basic things like dressing himself and riding a bike.

But then out of the blue, he does complicated math problems (multiplication and division) and reads books that would normally be above him.
He's more computer literate than his teachers!
He is obsessed with Mario Brothers, Star Wars and Pokemon .... he can tell you everything about any of these subjects.

He's a wonder and joy.
Except when he's not.

It's difficult to take him places sometimes.

He looks 'normal'.

He acts 'normal' .... mostly.

But when he has a meltdown?
*sigh*

My son becomes "that kid".

You've seen him ....

The kid screaming and kicking in the middle of wherever we happen to be.

The kid who clenches his fists and whose eyes get dark and distant.

The kid who talks to himself, rocks, sucks his thumb, twirls his hair and when REALLY upset,

gouges his face with his fingernails till he bleeds, or bites his arm till he bleeds.
The kid that throws things, like shoes, chairs, dishes.
The kid that says such hateful, vile things in the heat of anger.

People don't understand.

And that includes people in my family.

They just don't get it.

Somedays, I don't get it.

But i'm trying ...

So, if you see "that kid" out somewhere .... don't just automatically assume that his parents should "do something" about his/her behavior.
Maybe they're doing all they can.

Sometimes the hardest disabilities are the ones you can't see.

Now, I'm not sure if she only wanted one movie, or one from each place.
So, I took the liberty of choosing 3 films.

I have a feeling I may have a post jinx with at least one of my chosen films.
Ah well .....

First up ....
ENGLAND

There were soooooo many films from England that I could have chosen ... but I really enjoyed Cate Blanchetts portrayal of Queen Elizabeth.
Of course, I LOVE most any movie that deals with Royalty!
Such intrigue, deception and politics!
LOVE IT!

Next ....
IRELAND

Let me just say, I am NOT a John Wayne fan.
At all.
But, this movie?
Hells yes!
He was the PERFECT lead to Maureen O'Hara!
His best performance .... EVER!

Lastly ....
SCOTLAND

Again, a stunning performance by Ewan McGregor.
At times, this film is very difficult to watch.
It is gritty.
It is dirty.
It is dark.
It's brilliant!

After a very long drive, I pull up in front of your house.
I remove my suitcase from the trunk and walk up the steps.
Before I can knock, you open the door and drag me into your arms.
You entwine your fingers through my hair as your lips devour mine.
We're not even in the house, we're in the doorway ... half inside, half outside.
Our hands are flying all over; trying to remove coats, shirts, pants and anything else
that's keeping us from being the way we want to be ....naked.
We stumble into the vestibule, slamming the door behind us as we tear each others clothes off in earnest.
We've been apart for far too long, so 'romance' will have to wait till later .... when the 'fire' has been somewhat quenched.
I fall back onto the couch as you drop to the floor and bury your head between my legs.
I let you gorge yourself for a few minutes, but only for a few minutes.

I need to feel you inside of me ... filling me.
My ache growing to a crescendo as you enter me.
You sink your teeth into the soft flesh of my shoulder as we bump and grind out the weeks of loneliness and missing each other.
For the next however many hours, we explore, renew and re-introduce ourselves.
Finally, sated, we pass out ... only to awaken and start all over again.

*SIGH*

REALITY ....

After a very long drive, I pull up in front of your house.
The Boy jumps out of the car like his ass was on fire.
Poot soon follows screaming, "Where's my DS? I have to pee!".
The newest member of hell, Princess, decides it's time to play.
I ask The Boy to grab the dog and take her across the street to the park so she can pee.
Meanwhile, Poot is telling me to hurry up, he wants out.
I get out of the vehicle, grab Poot and my suitcase.
I walk up the steps open the door, step in and look around.
No one is around to greet me.
As I stumble in the front doorway, I hear you coming in through the back door.
Swearing.
You must have been at your parents.
You see me as you come through the kitchen, but you can't get to me as Poot has decided
to attach himself to your legs, making walking almost impossible.
Meanwhile, as I try and get my coat and boots off, The Boy comes through the door with Princess.
The dog pushes past me, dragging The Boy with her into me.
We all collide and become entangled in her leash.
I reach over, release Princess from her leash and then finish removing my boots.
As I'm bent over removing my boots, Princess is leaping on my head to try and get back to The Boy, who is on his way back outside to bring in the rest of the luggage.
With Poot firmly attached to your legs, you finally make your way over to me.
Well, close enough for a quick peck on the lips anyway.
Anything more than that is impossible as The Girl (your daughter) has now heard all the commotion and has decided to come downstairs and join the party.
The dog goes nuts, jumping up on her, and you.
The CAT walks in, sees the dog, hisses and then runs away and hides.
The Boy brings in the rest of the luggage, Poot runs upstairs to pee, Princess finds a comfy spot on the overstuffed chair and I think, "Finally! He's all mine".
But no, The Girl has a bajillion things to tell me ... and they all have to be told to me NOW.
So .... after 6 hours, we climb upstairs, close (and lock) the bedroom door behind us,
and kiss.
Finally.

I remember watching this movie when I was about 11 or 12.

I'm exhausted.
Finally, after an endless wait ..... it happened.
I got the call that my application for adoption was accepted.

I already have 2 boys .... but part of me always wanted a girl.
So you can imagine my shock when I was then told that yes, I have a girl.

A little girl.
Not a baby, but close enough!

So here she is, my Princess .....

Princess Rainey.
Isn't she gorgeous?!
She was saved from a kill shelter in Tennessee .... and I adopted from the rescue shelter.
She's a 2 year old Australian Shepherd/Catahoula Leopard dog mix.
I'm in love!
