Haiku Monday: Fiery Winner

Happy Thursday everyone!
I meant to get back here yesterday and write a post and announce the winner for this week.
But ....
Yeah.
Slack-ass blogging at it's finest.

I had grand plans of writing a lovely post with witty and insightful write-ups about all your lovely and wonderful Haikus.
But you know what they say about plans .....
*sigh*

So, here we are, 24 hours later, no wit and no insight.
I thank you all for your submissions.
Some were literal .... and some were a bit more subtle.
One wasn't even close to being 5-7-5 .... but made me laugh.

WALKER:
 Its a sauna everywhere.
Hell is vacationing topside this year.
May explain why my basement is so cool

I had a difficult time choosing as I really enjoyed everyones interpretations.
But in the end, I have chosen:

Fiery Baptism
White heat washes over flesh
Lightens self to rise

Rafael/Rafa/RafaDe

You  had me at Fiery Baptism .....

CONGRATS RAFA!
Now grab your badge and display it proudly.

Congratulations and special thanks to everyone for participating.

Well dangl'n berries, all buttered in cream
The devil was in me, do'en his thing
My kitchen too hot, he had to get OUT
Next thing I know, he's start'n to SPOUT!!
The action was fiery, but ended a mess
Lord please forgive me, I'm off to confess!!

HaHa, sorry...I get so excited when I win, I just can't help my damn self!

I pretty much counted myself outta the running, when Miss CoreyJo told me she thought I'd be third or maybe 5th...so, ya' know; big, fat raspberry to her ASS!!! (HaHa, sorry)

Seriously, there were some great haiku this week, and am honored that you found mine a gem amongst all the beautiful diamonds that came down the piper.

Super theme and loved all your comments and tid bits as hostess. GREAT JOB!!!

P.S. I'll post a theme up sometime tomorrow. I know with summer, people seem distracted, but hope everyone comes to play. Even if it's just with 17-syllables, sans a post, it's the poems I most adore.

Rafa Man does it again! Congrats and looking forward to the theme. Hope you enjoyed your first time hosting and judging, Mz Scarlet. Good job!

Good evening BlazngScarlet,

Ain't hosting fun? To me it seems as if the better everyone does, the harder it is to judge. And it increases the likelihood of something getting in the way of saying, how much you appreciate their efforts.

Thank you for hosting and judging. If you're interested, the visuals for the post that didn't happen are here and here. If you have time I hope you enjoy them.

Rafa even on my best weeks, you're a tough act to beat. Congratulations on another well deserved win.

Walker: It was fiery; in dealing with this ungodly heat!

RafaDe: I do believe the deVIL did indeed get inside you! lol
Nothing wrong with things ending a fiery mess! ;D
Congrats again Rafa ... I can't wait to see what's rolling around inside that pretty little head of yours! lol

Moi: Thanks so much! I really was nervous about hosting & judging. Everyone else has done such an awesome job, I didn't want to disappoint.

Karl: OMFG! Karl, you're AhMAZING! These visuals really stunned me. Beautiful!
You really ARE a "man of mystery"! lol
I DID enjoy hosting, it was the judging that got a bit rough.
I appreciate everyones efforts, so it wasn't easy to choose.
Thanks again for giving me the links to the visuals ... they ROCK!
However, I got your haiku without them. I figured it was something along those lines. =)

Great job, Blazng. I'm sure you'll have a repeat performance at some point, too.

Rafa: Like Karl said, you send in a winner every week. Tough crowd.

Blaze,

Nice job on your first host! You are right that hosting is fun, but judging is scary.

Congrats Rafa, and interesting theme for this week. The responses ought to be all over the board.

Karl, when you arc weld under water, what do you do about grounding, water being a great conductor and all??? (Very interesting video.)

Good afternoon BlazngScarlet,

I'm glad you liked them. Thanks again.

@Serendipity: For that video, I was cutting not welding. However the grounding principles in both processes are the same. The ground is placed as close to the work as possible and so that the divers body can't get in between the electrode and the ground. (Making this mistake can be fatal) A DC welding machine is used set on straight polarity. There is a switch on the surface that makes and breaks the connection between the electrode and the machine. The circuit is only energized when the diver is actually cutting or welding. The machine amperage is generally set between 150 and 400 amps. Hope that's what you're looking for. And I'm glad you found the video interesting.
