Last week, the lovely Becca over at Everyday Life was the hostess for Haiku Monday.
The theme was LOSS.
It's a subject that i'm sure all of us know just a bit too much about.
I know I do.

Anyway, Becca chose ME as this weeks winner!
Can you believe it?
I know I can't!
I stunned still!
And grateful.

Here is my winning Haiku:

36 years young
Body ravaged by cancer
Child bears witness

It was written in honor of my mother
She's been gone 34 years now.

So, now it's up to me to chose a theme and host this weeks Haiku Monday.

I thought long and hard about what theme I wanted, and I decided upon SEASONS.

Guiding us through time
Spring, summer, autumn, winter
Seasons of our life

Write about your favorite season (s), ALL the seasons, the seasons of life, love, music, bugs, amoebas .... whatever twirls your skirt!
Now, the rules:
5-7-5 format please (although, i'm not THAT much of a stickler!)
If you want to add visuals, video, music, etc. , that would be fantastic!
I don't care how many you enter, but I will only judge 2.
Just let me know which 2 please!  :)
Entries will need to be posted here by Monday at midnight PST.

Dragon training ....

Yesterday my SIL & I took my boys and my youngest niece, BanaBoo, to see "How To Train Your Dragon Live".

Let me just say, if this show comes to your town and you have young kids in your life, take them to see it.

It's very entertaining.

The boys were enthralled for the entire show .... even the 17 year old!

I couldn't have picked a better way to spend a chilly, rainy Saturday!

How Blazn' got her fyre back .....

Yes .... it's me.
I have returned from the beauty and warmth of Jamaica.
Before I get into the deliciousness of my vacay, I need to address a few things.

First off, I want to thank Rafa for choosing me as winner of Haiku Monday a couple weeks ago.
I was (am) completely gobsmacked.
Now, having won, I was supposed to host the up coming week .... but I went MIA.
Ok, not completely MIA, but definitely off grid.
I apologize profusely to ALL of you for just leaving without so much as a "thank you".
I want to thank Troll (who I hope is all right) and especially Boxer for picking up my torch.
You both are all kinds of awesome!!!!!
Speaking of Haiku Monday ..... The theme was SMOKE and Chicory is the winner ....

I'm sorry I haven't been around much ....
I have a lot of personal schizz going on right now.
*sigh*
Is it April 5th yet????

March????

I live in Buffalo, NY.
We're known for our snowy, cold winters (and chicken wings).
This year?
Um ..... not so much.
So you can imagine how odd it is for me to have 70+ degree temps in MARCH?
I almost feel like i'm back down in the south!
(almost .... I don't have monster bugs that'll carry my children away here)

Since I still can't do a whole lot of lifting, bending or pulling, I could only watch my neighbors get a HUGE jump on their yard work, planting, clean-up, etc.
What I could do though, was take a walk around my yard and see what all will need to be done.
(I do still have a 17 yo living here, might as well put him to good use!)

My yard needs help.
Lots of it.
The back fence needs to be replaced.
The pool is always a challenge to open, clean, etc.
The shed needs a new roof ... oops ... and a new door (damnit).
The concrete pad shifted .... and cracked.

*sigh*
Let's go to the side garden.
 
Oooooooo ........

My tulips are coming up!
OHMY!
I have some just about ready to BLOOM!
Bloom?
In March?
Unheard of!

I apologize for the crapiness of the picture, I only had my phone on me and I was enjoying the beauty of the day to come inside and get my real camera.


This made my day .... and makes my other projects not seem so overwhelming.

Bald4Bucks **UPDATE**

I just wanted to write a short update to this post.


About a month or so ago, my gorgeous niece informed me that she was raising money for Bald for Bucks,
A fundraiser for cancer research.
She had a goal of $1000.00 and I'm pleased to say that not only has she met the goal, she has surpassed it!
She's currently at $1200.00 with 26 more days to go!

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank those of you who have donated to the cause and helped her reach her goal.
I am constantly amazed and inspired by our little community and how we all come together ....

My amazing niece informed me yesterday that she plans on participating in

Goin' Bald for Bucks this year.

I can't begin to tell you how proud I am of her!
Not only is she trying to raise money for research, she will also be donating her lovely locks
 as well.
Anyway, here's her words:

Hey guys! I'm doing bald for bucks this year!

I'm trying to raise a lot of money, all the donations go to cancer research.

Any donation helps!

My goal at the moment is $1000. I will update the amount of money raised everyday!

So far today, i've technically (with people telling me the amount to put them down for) made $65 dollars. Please donate or tell others so that they may be able to donate!

The day of shave is March 30th during school!
