Moving on ....

I went to a graduation party yesterday.
Two actually.
The first was for The Boy's BFF.
They've been pretty much inseparable for the last 4 years.
He leaves for the Navy soon.
I think my son will be lost without him next year.

The second party was for my BFF's daughter .... The Boys' first real friend, boy or girl.
It seems like only yesterday Kritter (my BFF)ad I were taking the kids out to the Pumpkin Patch for Halloween pumpkins.
They used to play together on many a Friday and/or Saturday night as we adults were downstairs playing Scrabble, Pictionary or cards.
It was actually more of an excuse to sit around with good friends and talk about life, have a few cocktails and unwind from our hectic lives.
They were toddlers..
So young.
They're still young .....
But now they're getting ready to embark on a new chapter in their lives.
It's exciting .....
and sad.
It means i'm OLD.
I don't know when that happened.
I still feel like i'm 28!
(I plan to stay 28 forever BTW)

My own spawn is now officially a Senior.
*sniff*

Back to life ....

.... back to reality.

Reality bites!

I'm back to work now ... which is good .... but I kinda got used to being home.
Getting up at 5am sucks ass.
I should just be grateful that I have a job to go back to.
While i've been out, the school district has done a major overhaul and has not only eliminated a shit ton of jobs, they also were able to get a proposition passed that will eliminate a shit ton more.
Today it was announced that after our Stupidvisor (he's a class 'A' douchebag) "retires", we will be using the services of a neighboring school districts Supervisor.
He will split his time between his district (super small) and ours (very large).
It should be interesting.
The inmates will be running the asylum!
Like I said, I should just be grateful I still have a job.
I am.

But i'm still concerned.
"They" want to cut special needs programs .... and I'm not sure how that will affect Little Man.
I'll just have to wait and see.
And hope.

I hate waiting.

Change?

What the fuck happened to Blogger????

I've never switched to the new template style.
So why did Blogger decide to change what wasn't broke?
My comments look like crap.

*sigh*
Change.

Maybe Wordpress is in my future

My Town ....

I was out and about today running errands ....

I needed some groceries.
The shag wagon (named by the teenagers) needed an oil change.
And I needed to replenish some of my "stock". (booze)

So, after the shag wagon got oiled & lubed, I swung across the street to one of my favoritest places .....

This store is actually comprised of 2 stores.
One side has all kinds of gourmet foods; chocolates, pastries, cheese, coffee, tea, sauces, exotic oils, spices and my new obsession:

Belgium Treasure  Biscrips Cinnamon Cookie Spread.

It's the cinnamon version of Nutella (and just as evil).
But OMFG ... what it does to a whole wheat bagel!
*sigh*
Sheer decadence!

Anywhoodle .....
The other side of the store is, as you may have guessed, a ginormous liquor store.
They have practically every type of wine, beer and liquor from all over the globe.
And if they don't have it, they will get it for you, usually without any charge.
I *heart* them.

When you walk in, there's just aisle after aisle jammed with bottles of all shapes and sizes.

Now, if your eyes glaze over from all the shiny bottles (like mine generally do), you can still find your way around.
They have it set-up smartly, it's well lit and nicely labeled.

After wandering aimlessly finding what I wanted, I made my way to the checkout and saw signs all
over that this particular store (the original I might add) would be CLOSING and MOVING.
What you talkin' 'bout Willis????
Yes.
It seems that "they" want to move further out into a neighboring 'burb that collects substantially higher rents than my slowly withering, dwindling and dying 'burb.
After my initial shock, I was then angered and sad.
I have to sit back and watch ANOTHER well established business pack up, move out and leave behind
ANOTHER empty store front.
It's becoming more and more commonplace in my little 'burb.
We're starting to look more and more like the Big Bad City .... and it's not pretty.
On my way out, I noticed another sign showing where the New & Improved Liquor store will be ... and a small mention that the current building is to become a lumber yard.
??????
Liquor to lumber.
*sigh*
I have mixed feelings.
I'm happy that the building won't stand empty, but very sad that a landmark is picking up stakes and heading to a "classier" new town.

UTERUS*

So ... since I haven't heard from my Doctors office, I decided to give
them a lil' jingle and find out when my surgery might be scheduled.
After being place on hold for a gajillion  few minutes, the Office Bitch Manager
comes on the line and proceeds to tell me that I have to sign a consent form first.
OK says I.
I will come today and then we can get it scheduled right away, right?
Um .... not quite.
According to my (lame-ass) insurance company, the consent form has to be
ON FILE for at least ONE MONTH prior to surgery.
EX-SQUEEZE ME???????

Do the math .....
(I'll wait  .... I want a coffee anyway)

Everyone with me now? Good.

So ...... there goes Black Friday shopping!
AND
I'll be on strict bed rest for the first 2 weeks AFTER the surgery and recovery for another 6!

I hope the kids don't want Christmas.

*I just want you all to say UTERUS .... it makes me giggle.  =)

Familiar path .....

I stepped outside into a cool, blustery and rainy night.
I climbed into my vehicle, turned the ignition and backed out of the drive.
I started down a road that I had traveled on many times.
I kept on the familiar route, knowing precisely the destination of my nights journey.

I swung my car into the drive, parked and sat.
Just for a moment, but long enough to collect my thoughts.
I opened the door, exited and started walking down the path to the front door.
With each step I took, another memory from the past came flooding into my head.
I felt my steps slow; my feet suddenly feeling like weights.

As I climbed the steps, I paused for a moment ....
My chest feeling tight, and in desperate need of air.
I opened the door and stepped inside.

Suddenly, I was transported back in time ......
To the 10 year old girl who first stepped in this place.
Then to the teenager who spent far too much time in this place.
Then to the eager bride-to-be who had to extend her vacation to be in this place
Finally, to the new mother who was stunned to find herself there yet again.
All the memories layering themselves one on the other.

I took a few tentative steps forward and turned my head to the left.
That is where I saw him.
Dressed in his finest.
Surrounded by family and friends.
He looked so calm ...
So peaceful.

I took a deep breath ....
Stepped forward .....
said my final goodbye and paid my respects.

I turned quickly and practically ran out of that place.
I had already "given" enough of my precious time to being in it ....
Kaisers Funeral Home.

Hurry up and wait .....

August was when I found out about tri-fecta of prolapses.
I spent all of September and the early part of October being
poked, prodded, and 'other' things that I don't even care to remember.
When I net with my Doctor over a week ago, he confirmed what I already knew.
I need a hysterectomy and he needs to re-attach my other bits.
What he HASN'T told me was when the surgery was going to be.

I realize it's only been a little over a week, but I'm not so good with the waiting.

I really just want it over with and done.
Preferably before the holiday season as I will be out of commission for 8 weeks.

*sigh*
Maybe by Friday .....
